This was one of the harder temples for me to go to as there were many children here. Across the yard of the temple as we went in you could see scattered toys from the children there. Some children are left there by their parents as an offering to Buddha so that the children will grow to be monks. Other children only come there during the day. Some children there are orphans. We spoke with a lady monk at this temple who told us that all of the children are taught both ordinary school subjects and also Buddhism. She said that the children are given a choice as to whether or not they will become a monk or just learn at the school and then go to live on their own.
God, I can’t help but think about how these children are being raised with false hopes and even in their teaching they are being moved away from the truth of You. God open the eyes of these children, please send Christians into this neighborhood who would be teachers and messengers for You. God speak into the hearts of the monks at this temple and help them to find peace, righteousness and salvation through Jesus Christ. God, please call out your laborers into this harvest field that they might turn in faith to You.
Father, we pray against delusion here. We ask that the children, monks, and worshipers will be drawn to you, delivered from the kingdom of darkness and transferred to the kingdom of the Son you love. May the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ shine here. Please make a way for Your truth to be taught in this neighborhood and even in this temple. I agree with JDER’s prayer for laborers into this harvest. We ask that you would raise up sound churches in this neighborhood, and may they have effective children’s ministries that will be allowed to reach into the temple to the children here. Please save, Lord.
