District 6 – People of Idols
Points of Prayer
- District 6 is the other area largely populated by ethnic Chinese. Pray for an outpouring of God’s Spirit on the Chinese in this district resulting in new Believers and new multiplying churches.
- Pray for laborers to rise up from among the people of this district to share the Gospel with their family, friends and co-workers resulting in new churches.
- Pray for the people trapped by the spiritual strongholds represented by Chùa Thiền Lâm among other spiritual sites in the district.
Quite similar to District 5, District 6 is also dominated by many markets and a hub for distribution of various goods, especially fruits and other delicacies from the provinces of Southwest Vietnam. A variety of Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine is easy to find on the streets and alleyways of District 6. In the evening, sidewalks become venues for street food with families and young adults getting their fill.
Markets and houses are accentuated with a Chinese style, and stats show as much as a third of the population having Chinese roots. District 6 is well-known for craftsmen of idols. The making of small statues as idols is a skill handed down from generation to generation for the past 100 years, this district needs prayer.
The Lord is close to all who call on Him, yes, to all who call on Him in truth. He grants the desires of those who fear Him; He hears their cries for help and rescues them. The Lord protects all those who love Him, but He destroys the wicked.
