“I follow God too!” was the immediate response the young man made as I shared my salvation testimony with him. Initially excited by his response, my mood turned to sadness as I realized that while this young man had been exposed to the Bible, he had never been confronted with the sin in his life, his need for repentance, or the truth of salvation as God’s gift of grace – a gift born through our faith in Jesus Christ alone.
As we continued getting acquainted, very naturally we shared our names and cell phone numbers. Once he had given me his traditional Vietnamese name however, he told me, “my Bible name is Joshua”. Through many questions, Joshua explained that his father had given him the name Joshua soon after he was born. He was perplexed that I didn’t have a similar ‘extra’ name that came from the Bible as he understood that everyone has a Bible name.
Please join us in prayer for Joshua, and many like him in Vietnam who have been innoculated with a small measure of truth from the Bible – but have yet to receive a clear explanation of the Good News of Jesus Christ! Pray for the Believers of Vietnam to be bold and focused in sharing their salvation testimony with their family, friends, neighbors and co-workers.
