Baskets filled with fruits and other food items ar Baskets filled with fruits and other food items are a wonderful gift for the lunar new year.

During the days of the lunar new year, it is customary to visit a good number of family and friends. As Vietnamese believers visit and share with non-believing family and friends, please ask the Holy Spirit to go before them to give them opportunities and boldness to share their story of Jesus; pray for believers to have God's word to say as well. #pray4vietnam

“And now we testify and proclaim to you that He is the One who is eternal life. He was with the Father, and then He was revealed to us. We proclaim to you what we ourselves have actually seen and heard so that you may have fellowship with us, and our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ. We are writing these things so that you may fully share our joy.” 1 John 1:2-5

Thoughts of heading to hometowns in the countrysid Thoughts of heading to hometowns in the countryside are already on the minds of Vietnamese in the city to visit and celebrate the lunar new year with family.

In a city of 10 million plus people, the familiar and slow pace of hometown is a comfort many Vietnamese enjoy. Urban life holds Vietnamese for jobs and financial resources, and as Saigon begins to empty in the next days and weeks there are opportunities for believers to share their faith with family and friends.

“Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I trust Him.” Psalms 91:1-2

Pray for Vietnamese believers to have safe travel to their homes and opportunities to share God's word, their faith, and love family in their actions. #pray4vietnam

Sitting on the railing of a bridge along the Saigo Sitting on the railing of a bridge along the Saigon River fishing as the high tide brings in opportunities of fish up the river from the coast, this fisherman sits patiently and ready for a catch.

The New Testament tells us stories of how Jesus patiently trained the disciples. Even after miracles and proclamations of being the Son of God, the disciples were often confused as to who Jesus was. Today we think of the disciples as being mature men of faith, but Jesus was still trying to teach them how to persevere in prayer up until He was taken in the garden.

Whatever the task is that God has called us to, we need to continue doing the work even if we don't see the progress we would like to see.

“…For who hopes for what he sees? But, if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.” Romans 8:24b-25

Thank God for His patience with us. Ask the Holy Spirit graciously to reward us in patience and perseverance for all His people. #pray4vietnam

Children run ready to start classes and to the bus Children run ready to start classes and to the bus that picks them up at the end of their alley each morning in one of the suburbs of Saigon.

Do you remember running with such happy abandonment, especially towards God? 2023 is the year to run toward Him!

Just a few days into the new year, dedicate time to the Lord in prayer and worship. Give Him the chance to change the trajectory of the path before you. Life is hard when we try to control it, but when we let go of the reigns, it suddenly becomes easy.

Proverbs 19:21 reminds us that, "Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails.
Do you need to setup a plan for you, your family and friends to read through the Bible?

Pray for Vietnamese who are also making a commitment to read their Bible daily---throughout the whole year and read through the whole Bible, that they will be faithful and committed. Ask God to accomplish all that He will through His word in their lives. #pray4vietnam
