Please join us in praying for two new groups of young Believers that will begin training using Obedience Based Discipleship (OBD) materials this week.
Each OBD training time with these Believers will follow a similar pattern with the meeting time divided in thirds. During the first third of the training, Believers will pray for one another, give testimony of how God has been at work in their lives since they last met and also testimony of how they have shared the Gospel with others or trained other Believers. During this first third of the meeting the focus is on fellowship as Believers and accountability.
For the second third of the meeting, the groups will focus on new content, training from the Bible. Initially this new content centers around the foundations of living a daily committed Christian life; our new life in Christ, prayer, the Bible, making Disciples for Christ, the church as the Body of Christ, and following Christ consistently. Bible study in each of these foundational areas is also accompanied by a memory verse.
The third third of the meeting centers on practicing teaching the same content to others as well as challenge and commitment to obey that which God has taught us in that session. O stands for obedience and so with each training session we agree as to what God would have us obey or put into practice from the Scriptures. Part of that putting into practice is always to pass on, or train others with what we have just received ourselves in the training.
Please pray for these two groups of young Believers that they will be faithful in following God through this time of training and that they will be open to hear from God as He prompts. Pray for the logistics and security of meetings. Pray that these new Believers will multiply themselves in many more – reaching their family, friends and co-workers for Jesus Christ. Pray that from these two training groups that many new churches will be started to multiply across the country.
