Initially she was perplexed, maybe even somewhat amused. She had many questions.
“How could this person actually believe there was one supreme God or believe that I could have a relationship with God? This goes against everything I have believed before, everything that I am comfortable with. My parents have always taught me to depend on family, depend on myself to make anything of my life. How can I put my trust totally in someone else?”
But as the Red team continued to share with Binh* they focused on verses from Scripture and their own personal experience, their testimony of God’s goodness. It was never a debate but rather always a matter of simply sharing why God was important to them. The more Binh heard the more she wanted to understand. Then yesterday she told them she was ready. Together with two from the team she prayed to receive Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior – placing all of her life and trust in Him.
After Binh prayed and made her commitment to Christ the Red team members immediately begin to disciple her. They started with a lesson on assurance of salvation and the changes that have come to Binh as a new creation in Christ (2 Cor 5:17). As part of that discipleship they began to talk with Binh about baptism and the need to share her decision with her family and friends. Knowing the opposition and persecution that can come from families, one of the Red team members asked Binh: “Are you afraid to tell your family that now you are a Christian?” Binh’s faith-filled response:
“Now I have Jesus in my heart – why would I be afraid of anything?”
Pray with us for Binh and her new faith. Pray for an opportunity for her to be baptized soon. Pray that as she shares with her family and friends they will also be compelled by the truth of the Gospel and turn to God. Pray that God will continue to grow and strengthen Binh that she might multiply herself many times over. Pray as well for the many seeds that have been planted by the Red team asking God for more fruit that lasts.
