Day Ten – Saigon as a city emerged along the banks of the river that bears its name. Unfortunately, what you find along the banks of the Saigon river is not life and hope but death and separation from God. How we ache for the people living and working along the banks of the Saigon river to search and find the Lord God Almighty – to root themselves in His Word and bear fruit. Pray for Vietnamese along the Saigon River to know God and accept His gift of salvation. “He is like a tree planted beside streams of water that bears its fruit in season and whose leaf does not whither. Whatever he does prospers.” Psalm 1:3
Ho Chi Minh City’s inner-city canals have been in use for the past 150-plus years, first used by merchants to transport goods into the neighborhoods or outlying areas of the city. For several decades the city has sought to fill-in—-replace canals with streets or clean them up from the pollution and shanty-like houses that line the sides of the canal. The people who live along canals are without knowledge of the living water found in Jesus Christ. Just like the Samaritan woman who gave Jesus water from the well, pray for Vietnamese living on and nearby the canals to taste the Good News of salvation and thirst no more. “Jesus answered, “If you knew the gift of God, and who is saying to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would ask Him, and He would give you living water.”” John 4:10
