Vietnamese folklore says, today, the kitchen god returns to heaven riding on a carp fish to report to the Jade Emperor about the family of each home. This day Vietnamese will make offerings to their home altar, buy and release a carp into a nearby lake or river.
God is the One True God who sees all. We cannot hide from Him. In fact, He is already looking for us each day. When Hagar from Genesis 16:7 is found in the desert. She isn’t looking for God, but God is looking for her and knows her story. Pray for Vietnamese who have yet to encounter God that they would see God’s presence and understand His search for each person.
“She [Hagar] gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.”” Genesis 16:13
