Glittering lights reflect from the Saigon River with decks loaded to cruise during the evening.
Our eyes cannot help but be drawn to what sparkles and glows.
In the Old Testament, the book of Joshua recounts Achan’s answer when confronted by the leader of Israel. Joshua and his army experienced defeat because there was sin in the camp.
“It is true! I have sinned against the Lord, the God of Israel. Among the plunder I saw a beautiful robe from Babylon, 200 silver coins, and a bar of gold weighing more than a pound. I wanted them so much that I took them. They are hidden in the ground beneath my tent, with the silver buried deeper than the rest.” Joshua 7:20-21
God has created a world of beauty, but there are imitations to be avoided that can be physically and spiritually fatal—all that glitters is not gold.
Pray for God’s gracious love and mercy to be evident, bringing many in Ho Chi Minh City to realize their separation from Him and asking for forgiveness of their sins.
