The heat of summer takes a dip in a cloudy river inlet at Bo Cap Vang, a somewhat older water relief park compared to more modern ones in the city. There’s joy in the plunge of water that is cooling.
Uncomfortable, high humidity, summer heat is troubling, most likely where you are and especially in the south of Vietnam. Even more the difficulties of life seem to be non-stop causing our spirits to be downcast.
“For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the thing we cannot see will last forever.” 2 Corinthians 4:17-18
Look past the pain of the moment and see that something better is ahead—the hope of God. Our trust in God does not mean the suffering is removed. On the outside nothing may change, but on the inside everything changes. Strength is gained and hope arises.
Do you know the Chris Tomlin song, Everlasting God? Look it up and be reminded to sing to God:
Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord, we will wait upon the Lord
Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord, we will wait upon the Lord
Our God, You reign forever
Our hope, our Strong Deliverer
Pray for Vietnamese to know Jesus as their Strong Deliverer and Savior. Thank you for praying.
