   My heart broke for the lost people. Tears came to my eyes as I saw their dedication to the false gods.

   I am struggling with the fact that there are people beside me bowing down before false gods. It hurts to watch.

   When we visited this large temple there were many people there. We spoke to a man who told us that about 40 monks live at the temple and that many people also come there to study like a school.

   We talked to a couple of different people who told us that many people come to this temple to pray at some specific idols for health. Others come to pray for their soul or the souls of others.

   While we were there a large group of people gathered for a time of chanting together. They walked around the idols in a circle several times.

   We prayed for the many people we saw there. We prayed that the One True God of the universe that sent His Son Jesus to die for even the ones at this temple would be known and glorified in this place.

   I have this feeling in the pit of my stomach that won’t go away. There’s something about this place that’s beautiful and peaceful yet sinister. I’m really hoping that I don’t throw up. Seeing people really believe that what they do is going to save them is hard. It kills me inside. There was this one particular woman who stuck out to me. She was around 60 or 70 years old and was doing the routine prayer but I couldn’t stop looking at her. I just wanted to run up to her and try to share the love of God but I didn’t out of respect. It tears me completely apart knowing that I can’t help all these people. i can some but not all. I’m starting to really realize how important it is for use to obey the Great Commission. I don’t know if I am called to missions work or not but I know someone must do more.

   I thought about all the people who come here to worship false gods and my heart was filled with sorrow. I prayed for the people. I prayed that they would come from darkness to light.

   The people were so close to me physically and still they seemed so far away. My heart continually broke as I watched them pray, knowing that there is no one on the other side of those prayers.

   I prayed that people’s minds and hearts will be softened and opened to God and His Word.

   Please, God, hear the prayers of your children who visited this temple and saw those lost in darkness. Please send laborers into this harvest so that each of the people who worship here will realize that only Jesus can save them. May the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ shine in this neighborhood and even on the monks and worshipers so that the temple is empty because all worship the One True God instead. Please raise up evangelizing, reproducing, disciple-making churches in this area to replace the temple–or may the temple be used as a church! May this land become a center for righteousness instead of darkness.
