In the daytime I felt darkness all around me. At the entrance of this Tao temple there are two large burners to burn sacrifices or prayers. Inside the temple there is just a great amount of incense. I remember in the Bible how it talks about our worship to God being a sweet fragrance. This must stink.
It’s an old temple built by Chinese people who migrated here many years ago. They worship and study the Taoist religion. The caretaker we spoke to said that they worship the saints and people in heaven.
God of heaven may Your power reign in this place. Holy Spirit wash over the people here with the knowledge of God and help them to see their need to repent and turn to You. Lord Jesus send workers to come and share the Gospel in this needy place.

As you walk in the entrance here there are some tanks of turtles. When we asked the people there about the meaning of the turtles they told us that people coming to worship will purchase a turtle and then release it in the water. They believe by doing this act of ‘good will’ of releasing a turtle the people will in turn receive a blessing.
We spoke with a man who seemed to work at the temple and also a lady that had come there to burn incense. When we asked the man questions about the Chinese characters which are prevalent here, he said that he didn’t know what the characters meant. Then I asked him what the people who worship here believe about death he also said he didn’t know and walked away. The lady who came to burn incense just said that she wanted to receive blessings and believed the spirits would give them to her.
I prayed that all the people that come here would know that the statue they are praying to cannot answer their prayers. I prayed that someone would tell them about Jesus.
There was a lady at this temple telling people their fortune or about their future. I prayed that the people here would know that God is the one who holds the future. I prayed that they would put their trust in Him.
