Đền Hùng is an ancestor hall that commemorates the Hung kings of Viet Nam. There is a national holiday held on the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month every year that commemorates the historic and pre-historic kings of Viet Nam, specifically the Hung dynasty. While for some this may be only a matter of patriotism, it remains that of worship and seeking favor from spirits for many others. As with ancestor altars in homes, the altars in ancestor halls focus on worship and offerings made to the dead. There are numerous ancestor halls dedicated to the Hung kings throughout Ho Chi Minh City and many more throughout the country.
When we visited this ancestor hall, the only person there was the caretaker and we spoke to him briefly. We prayed especially for the people in the park that God would open their hearts to Jesus Christ.
