This temple is an ancestor hall dedicated to a historical hero of Viet Nam, a general by the name of Tran Hung Dao. You will also find elements of Buddhist and Taoist worship here. The people come here to pray and seek favor from this deceased general. A national holiday is held every year to memorialize this general when millions across the country may burn incense to worship him and pray to him.
When we visited, I was touched by the monk we saw there. As we watched him he would hit a small gong and read a few lines from the book in front of him. I prayed for the monk that someone would be able to communicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ to him.
Please pray with us for the many people who visit this temple looking for an answer in life. Pray for more laborers who will be true heros of God’s Kingdom to rise up and spread the good news of hope and peace and salvation from Jesus our Lord.
