Đền Thờ Vua Hùng is an ancestor hall that commemorates the Hung kings of Viet Nam. There is a national holiday held on the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month every year that commemorates the historic and pre-historic kings of Viet Nam, specifically the Hung dynasty. While for some this may be only a matter of patriotism, it remains that of worship and seeking favor from spirits for many others. As with ancestor altars in homes, the altars in ancestor halls focus on worship and offerings made to the dead. There are numerous ancestor halls dedicated to the Hung kings throughout Ho Chi Minh City and many more throughout the country.
This particular ancestor hall is located within the Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden grounds. There was no one visiting the ancestor hall at the time we visited but we prayed for the people that do visit (especially around the holiday). We also thanked God for His creation which was beautiful around us and we prayed for the families and children that come to the zoo and garden here that they might know Jesus.
