This is a Chinese temple dedicated to the worship of a dead general and king from several hundred years in the past. Several other heroes and spirits are worshipped here as well. One of the things that stood out to us when we visited was the amount of fortune telling that is also practiced here. We spoke with one lady who told us she had been coming here for more than twenty years to have her fortune told. She said that she always follows the advice of the fortune tellers here for making life decisions. The temple is old and has a great deal of intricate woodwork.
I prayed for the people coming to worship the spirits of the deceased. Whether the person was a hero or a general or a king it doesn’t matter. Those spirits cannot provide a hope or salvation for the people. It hurts my heart to see them looking for a fulfillment in something that is empty. I prayed for the people here to have the opportunity to know God.
God, I pray for the people that come to the Nghia An temple. I pray that You would bring people to them to share the message of Your love and Your salvation. I pray that as they seek something spiritual You will open their hearts to know You. Holy Spirit please convict them of their need to find salvation through Jesus Christ. God please send your laborers to work among the harvest field of Ho Chi Minh City and especially among the ethnic Chinese of the city that come to this temple.
