   This is a famous temple in the city as it is dedicated to the worship of a Buddhist monk who killed himself in protest by setting himself on fire in 1963. The temple here is considered an ancestor worship hall, although it has mostly Buddhist elements as well and so it is also considered a Buddhist temple.

   We spoke with a man who had come here to pray on the day we visited. He told us that this was a very popular place with many people coming here to pray. People come to pray and offer incense to the monk who killed himself and also to the idols here. They come to pray for the needs of their friends or the needs of family, they pray for good things to come to them in life. Also many students come here to pray.

   The idols here are mostly focused on the goddess of mercy. They show her as the goddess with 11 faces and also as the goddess with 1,000 arms.

   While we were there we spoke with a young girl, high school aged. She had come to pray for good grades. As we talked I was able to share the Gospel with her. She told us that she had never heard this story before in her life. When we finished we were able to give her a Gospel tract to read more.

   God please help this young girl to read the tract we gave to her. Holy Spirit please give her understanding of what she is reading and draw her to find out more. God please show Yourself to her so that she will know You are real. God we pray for this young girl’s salvation and that she might glorify You with her life and worship and bring many others to believe in You as well.

   God we pray for all of the people that come to this temple seeking answers in life. God we pray that instead of worshipping this one who took his own life they will turn and give You worship.
