HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM (HOE-chee-men) – “And the one sown on rocky ground–this is one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy. Yet he has no root in himself, but is short-lived. When pressure or persecution comes because of the Word, immediately he stumbles” (Matthew 13:20-21). Please pray for those who have eagerly accepted or shown an interest in the Gospel over the summer months but have yet to put down stable roots. Pray that mature believers will be given the grace to disciple them and help them to grow strong in their faith. Believers in the city immediately face opposition from family, friends, employers, teachers and the culture as a whole. Without roots, they will quickly wither. Pray especially for the opportunity to start four new Obedience-Based Discipleship (OBD) groups for new believers in four parts of the city. Pray that through these groups, believers will not only learn and put into practice what they are learning, but also multiply themselves through training others in the same way.
