Topic: Tuberculosis In Vietnam
A recent conference on TB in Vietnam reported that each year nearly 30,000 people die of the infection in the country. With 200,000 new cases each year this ranks Vietnam as the country with the 12th most TB cases in the world. Up to 20 per cent of the TB patients in Vietnam cannot be treated due to extreme drug resistance, a major and growing problem.
As TB patients are often HIV positive as well this creates a huge burden on the healthcare system, not to mention the infected individuals and their families. Poor living conditions and malnutrition only increase the likelihood of infection and diminish the possibilities of effective treatment.
Pray
- Pray for healthcare workers to show compassion to those affected by TB, offering the best care possible in difficult circumstances
- Pray for easier access to healthcare resources for the most vulnerable in society, for government solutions that make this possible
- Remember the sick and suffering in Vietnam, that they would find comfort in the God of endless mercy and love
