HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM (HOE-chee-men) – โI assure you: Unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains by itself. But if it dies, it produces a large cropโ (John 12:24). There are many obstacles in the path of those who would be faithful believers here. Opposition often comes from family. Huynh* is very close to believing in Jesus but is afraid to make the decision because of opposition from his parents. Duc* is a young believer who, for the same reason, has not yet been strong enough to tell his family that he has believed. Opposition also comes from those in authority. Recently a local church decided that they could not be involved in evangelistic activities for fear of increased pressure from authorities who might revoke their legal status. Please pray that fear will not rule the lives of believers or prevent those seeking from making a decision for Christ. Please pray for faithful believers to lose their lifestyle, their daily choices, and daily priorities for the sake of the Gospel. Pray that boldness will be the response to persecution and that in such boldness, God will be glorified and His kingdom expanded in this place. Pray for discernment for mature believers in how to help those struggling with fear. (*pseudonyms)
