HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM (HOE-chee-men) – The “Death Anniversary of the Hung Kings” will be celebrated on April 9 as a legal holiday all over Vietnam. In traditional Vietnamese culture, the anniversary of someone’s death is seen as more important than someone’s birthday. Close to 98 percent of all Vietnamese actively participate in the worship of spirits and make offerings to dead ancestors within their family. This holiday commemorating the death anniversary of the Hung Kings gives a similar focus for the country as a whole in honoring the ancient kings of their history. On this day, many will visit temples dedicated to ancestors to pray and offer incense. Please pray for the people of Vietnam especially during this anniversary. Pray that the Holy Spirit will speak to and convict the hearts of those who are seeking to appease the spirits of ancestors. Pray that local believers will take this opportunity to share their reason for placing their faith and their hope in the King of kings, Jesus Christ!
