HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM (HOE-chee-men) – “‘I can’t meet with you anymore; my parents won’t allow it.’ When Cuc* told me that, my heart just dropped. Just a few days earlier, after hearing an explanation of the truth of God’s love and forgiveness, Cuc had given her life to Jesus as Lord and Savior. Excitedly, she had shared her decision with her family, only to be met with total opposition from her parents. It is not uncommon for young believers to face opposition and even persecution from their families. Please ask the Holy Spirit to encourage Cuc and help her to grow from this first step of faith. Pray that Cuc will commit to meet with other believers for times of discipleship and worship. Ask God to open the hearts of Cuc’s parents and family to the truth of the Gospel. Pray for increased strength and faithfulness for believers in the city who are facing the struggle of balancing a commitment to God and love and respect for their family.” (*pseudonym)
