I’ve traveled this week a short distance from Can Tho further south to the city of Soc Trang. Soc Trang is the capital city of the province by the same name and is one of the areas in the Mekong Delta with a high population of the Khmer Krom people. The Khmer Krom are an indigenous Khmer (Cambodian) people. Khmer Krom literally means “lower Khmer”. They are a distinct people group however and estimates range that they might have a population as high as 8 million spread primarily across southern Cambodia and southern Viet Nam primarily in the Mekong Delta region. This is an unreached and unengaged people group (UUPG) much in need of our prayers.
