Starting from around 170 Bach Dang and moving west along this street you will find a number of different shops that sell ceramic idols, spiritual decorations or items and wooden altars for idol and ancestor worship.

We visited several shops and spoke with a few of the owners or shopkeepers. Idols and other spiritual decoration might range anywhere from about USD $5.00 to USD $400.00 for items placed in the home. One of the shopkeepers told us we shouldn’t ask so many questions as these were religious items. Others seemed eager to show us pieces. When we asked why someone would purchase a new idol they told us that some times people think they are not getting enough benefit from an idol, or it is old and will be thrown in the trash and then they purchase a new one.

It made me sad to see people wasting money on things that really don’t have any power. We prayed for the owners and the shopkeepers and the people that visit the shops that they might know the joy of salvation through Jesus Christ. We prayed that people would realize that the idols are false and find out the truth.

…If my people who are called by My name humble themselves, pray and seek My face, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. My eyes will now be open and My ears attentive to prayer from this place. II Chronicles 7:14-15

Lord, I pray that the people of Vietnam will hear about you, seek your face, turn from the idols they are worshiping and that you will be attentive to their prayers. God hear our prayers as we intercede on their behalf and pray that the people in HCMC will turn from idols and turn to the one true God. Speak to their hearts Lord and draw them to you.

From Dick Eastman’s book “A Watchman’s Guide for Praying God’s Promises”: “I pray, Father, for those who are lost in the darkness of other faiths and belief systems. Foster within them a dissatisfaction that would lead them to seek You. Reveal yourself to them in your grace and make the gospel message clear to their hearts so that they might desire your everlasting life. Please open the eyes of those who worship idols to see the emptiness and lifelessness of that which they serve. Show yourself as the living God who is he divine Father of the nations…[May they] be attracted to your mercy ad grace and [put their faith in Jesus]”

Heavenly Father, shine light in the darkness of this neighborhood, and show forth your power to draw the souls here to full faith in Jesus Christ! Deliver them from the domain of darkness and transfer them to the kingdom of your beloved son, in whom there is redemption and the forgiveness of sin!
Even as you made the Philistine’s false god statue fall and break, make these idols and god fall, literally and in people’s hearts! Show your surpassing greatness and power and your great love; reach out and rescue these held captive by the enemy in this neighborhood!

International Children's Day is observed in Vietna International Children's Day is observed in Vietnam on June 1. Special events for children are featured and parents show their love especially on this day.

We trust God when we know Him. As we grow to know Him more, we can rest in His goodness, even when we do not understand circumstances. Just like parents want their children to trust them as loving parents, we can trust our heavenly Father to always do what is right.

“Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock.” Isaiah 26:4

Father, we pray especially for the children in Saigon for each one to have the opportunity to grow up in a home that knows you God as One True God of the world. Bring parents to the saving knowledge of You and teach children to know that You are Loving and Trustworthy. #pray4vietnam

Paper sacrifices, incense, and prayers bring displ Paper sacrifices, incense, and prayers bring displeasure to our One True God, but the people of Vietnam are truly seeking hope.

““Answer me, O Lord, answer me, that this people may know that You, O Lord, are God, and that You have turned their hearts back.” Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces and said, “The Lord, He is God; the Lord, He is God.”” 1 Kings 18:37-39

Pray for the people of Vietnam to know that the Lord is God. #pray4vietnam

The words that a person speaks reveal their heart. The words that a person speaks reveal their heart. Words of gossip, words of meanness or words that hurt can only describe the darkness in places of the heart. We live out the conditions of our hearts.

“A tree is identified by its fruit. If a tree is good, its fruit will be good. If a tree is bad, its fruit will be bad.” Matthew 12:33

Pray, asking God to make our hearts clean and full of His light. Out of that light, our words will encourage and build up and not tear down. Ask God to help make our words thoughtful and full of kindness rather than selfishness and envy. Pray for the words Vietnamese use every day, words to build up and not tear down. #pray4vietnam

Tight walkways through this local market will have Tight walkways through this local market will have goods to sell on one side with tasty options to eat on the opposite side. Early morning finds spaces, but as the day progresses lots of people will fill the market. Deciding when to shop and eat are the basics to make life more productive or peaceful.

Thought about these questions lately? Why are you living for Christ? What is your motivation for being part of the kingdom of God? Are you living for yourself, or are you willing to live for others?

When our focus shifts from ourselves to others, everything changes. We lead more productive and peaceable lives.

“So I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.” John 13:34

Pray for Vietnamese to love each other as Jesus example of love. Ask for God to bring His kingdom to have a greater influence in Saigon. #pray4vietnam

Coffee with milk, coffee with ice, and freshly squ Coffee with milk, coffee with ice, and freshly squeezed, green-skinned orange juice are available for convenient street-side pickup.

What if a menu sign had: love, grace, and mercy available? Would customers flock to receive these items? Yet those are what God is so good to give.

“Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. But God is so rich in mercy, and He loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, He gave us life when He raised Christ from the dead. It is only by God's grace that you have been saved!” Ephesians 2:1,4-5

Praise God for His love, grace, and mercy in each of our lives. Ask the Holy Spirit to move in Vietnamese lives that have read or heard His word today to bring them back in obedience or to save them. #pray4vietnam

Some time or another everyone needs to have someth Some time or another everyone needs to have something mended or sewn, but not everyone has the skill or equipment. Street side sewing and mending are quite convenient and easy to find among Saigon's 10 million plus people.

Embracing a self-awareness of our abilities and inabilities can help us to grow. We need God to help us reach and exceed what we can only dream.

“Look here, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit. How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog---it's here a little while, then it's gone. What you ought to say is, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.”” James 4:13-15

Pray for Vietnamese to rely on God. As plans are made, seek God to determine steps each day for His Kingdom to come. #pray4vietnam

Light and tasty, these bánh cuốn are made on a Light and tasty, these bánh cuốn are made on a flat-top where rice batter is spread thin and filled with pork, vegetables and crispy toppings. An easy take-away item and help to individuals and families on busy mornings, Chi works to fill orders.

Women are amazing. God created women with a specific purpose and plan in mind, and throughout Scripture, we find story after story of God using women to accomplish great things.

“Then the Lord God said, it is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.” Genesis 2:18

The word ‘helper' translated in Hebrew is the word ‘ezer' used twice for Eve, three times to talk about military power, and sixteen times to describe God. ‘Ezer-helpers' are not inferior assistants, but those who fill a need.

As Mother's Day approaches give thanks to God for blessed and good mothers and ask Him to put good examples of mothers in others' lives for His glory. The women of Vietnam desperately need your prayers too. Pray asking God to raise up Vietnamese women to find strength and faith in Him, to be the ‘ezer' in the lives of their unbelieving families. #pray4vietnam

“But those who wish to boast should boast in this alone: that they truly know me and understand that I am the Lord who demonstrates unfailing love and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth and that I delight in these things. I, the Lord, have spoken!” Jeremiah 9:24

Pray with faith for God to bring those thirsting and hungry to find Him into relationships ready to share. #pray4vietnam
