A recent article on the BBC News website highlights the fate of those who have been trafficked from Vietnam:
All too often these young people have come from desperately poor rural families. Hieu is a sad example of this situation- at the age of 15 she was sent from her small rural village to work in Hanoi, but she had unknowingly been sold by her parents to a brothel. After unimaginable experiences she was able to escape and return to her home, only to find that they would not receive her back because it would bring shame on her family.
Our God is the God who sees. Pray for those affected by the dreadful situations that human trafficking has put them in, that they would know they are seen by God as they suffer.
- Pray for compassionate and appropriate ways for people trafficking to be prevented in and from Vietnam.
- Pray for hearts to be changed, so that the value of individual lives is seen as reflecting the image of our Creator.
- Pray for young people like Hieu, who have escaped horrible situations, to find healing and true shalom in life.
